valle + vik Summer Launch Party @ Farm Girl Cafe Portobello

Valle + vik’s creative director & designer, Silje Vallevik, embodies Scandinavia at it’s best. She’s tall, intelligent & progressive – an ex-model, personal trainer and artist; now turned successful fashion designer. She puts us all to shame.

She launched her timeless collection of natural silk dresses at Farm Girl Cafe Portobello last month. Silje draws her main inspiration from Scandinavian culture, she is especially inspired by the traditional Norwegian folk costumes, and their eternal embroideries and prints that she saw growing up in southern Norway. In valle + vik she has updated these for a new generation, mixing the traditional with an urban jet-set vibe.

Well we certainly saw the vibe going off at Farm Girl! Co-inciding with the National Day of Norway, she and her hareem of leggy fashion power house friends took to the floor, each in a dress of course. Sales flew that night!

 

Bread & Honey were asked to adorn the turquoise tiled room with elegant pairings of canapés & cocktails for the evening. We teamed up with our wonderful friends, FAIR drinks – an independent spirits brand, dedicated to high quality products that are sourced ethically and sustainably. Their vodka is made from quinoa, sourced from the Andean mountains. The Altiplano plateau is over 3000m above sea level where the quinoa grows in fertile volcanic soil. And so it was coined that night – ‘THE QUINOA MULE’. Heaven on earth. Coupled with yellow fin tuna takaki, crispy chicken skins with labneh & fresh avocado tartines, we ate and drank to our hearts content. (More on food & drink below, of course!)

FAIR quinoa vodka, ginger syrup, fiery ginger beer, mint
